Purpose of the Role
We are looking for an Outreach Coordinator to join our team, reporting to the SVP of Development & Legal. This individual will support the development efforts of R3 Renewables’ solar + storage projects through permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, and financing.
Key Role Accountabilities
- Identify stakeholders and develop support for R3 Renewables’ projects in the southern Indiana and southern Illinois regional area
- Provide outreach, information and project updates to stakeholders as requested, including but not limited to, county commissioners and judges, landowners, chamber of commerce, school superintendents, economic development groups, farm bureau, local businesses, non-profit organizations other influential individuals or organizations identified by R3 Renewables (collectively, “Stakeholders”)
- Monitor online feedback and discussion of R3 Renewables’ projects
- Coordinate with the Developer and external affairs consultants on plans and responses to any opposition to R3 Renewables’ projects
- Develop and maintain relationships with identified Stakeholders
- Seek letters of support as directed
- Participate in community events in the project areas as recommended or directed
- Plan, manage and participate in project meetings in the project areas
- Assist with state lobbying efforts as needed
- Help develop Community Benefits Plans and provide recommendations for community giving and donations for each project
Qualifications & Experience
- Superb oral, presentation and written communication skills
- Strong local experience in coalition building or public advocacy programs
- Effectiveness in building successful relationships with a broad group of stakeholders
- Demonstrated interest in public policy and/or regulatory issues, including renewable energy
- Deep familiarity with regional area, particularly with respect to rural issues
- Residence in regional area
- Ability to spend extensive time traveling throughout the regional area and occasional travel to other areas in the US
- Position will require extensive outreach and involvement in rural areas and communities. Candidate must have ability to interact with stakeholders who may have strong opinions about the project.
- Some familiarity with mining infrastructure and technical issues a plus.
Education
BS or BA from an accredited college program preferred
