Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a Development Associate to join our team, reporting to the SVP of Development & Legal. This individual will lead the development efforts of R3 Renewables’ solar + storage projects through permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, and financing.

Key Role Accountabilities

  • Lead the development efforts on R3 Renewable’ projects by coordinating the efforts of the land, finance, environmental & permitting and pre-construction teams to ensure that all development milestones are met to prepare the projects for handover to construction
  • Identify new development prospects and assist with site assessments, fatal flaw analysis, initial site reconnaissance, survey coordination and other due diligence on new and existing projects
  • Advance development of assigned projects to construction-ready status
  • Provide development and permitting support by helping coordinate internal and external resources to achieve permitting, interconnection, and other project development milestones
  • Create and maintain project databases and tracking tools for R3 Renewables’ projects
  • Attend community meetings and represent R3 Renewables with customers, landowners, state and local officials, and other stakeholders, as requested
  • Assist with and manage project budgets and schedules
  • Evaluate and track power market trends
  • Assist with inputs to the financial model
  • Perform regional market and competitive analysis as requested
  • Establish and maintain industry and community relationships to advance project development
  • Support due diligence on project acquisition opportunities, as requested
  • Initiate and manage generation interconnection activities.
  • Support commercial and power marketing efforts for assigned projects, including RFP responses

Role Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3-5 years’ work experience in the renewable and clean energy industry
  • A strong understanding of the development process of clean and renewable energy projects
  • Strong organizational, networking, leadership, time management, and accounting skills
  • Strong public speaking and personal skills.
  • Ability to write effective, concise reports
  • Demonstrated agility and flexibility as business needs and priorities shift
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and solve problems
  • A desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong demonstrated interest in renewable energy

Education

  • BS or BA from an accredited college program
  • Engineering or Finance Degree a plus
  • Travel Travel as needed, anticipated 30 – 50% of the time
